My story
My father was a psychiatrist and an impressionistic painter. Growing up with him gave me a front row seat to a life as an artist.
He always had a painting he was working on in our den on his easel. He brought me to museums as a young child and explained to me how paintings were made - light, logic, perspective, focal points, color theory. He even put one of my paintings in his own art show when I was 5 years old.
I’ve worked as an artist all of my life in a variety of mediums. I studied performing arts in college, I wrote and shot an award winning short film. I’ve painted, sculpted, and even blown glass. I created and sold collage art for 10+ years.
Knowing how art can change a life, I created and taught a workshop to empower pre-teen girls through art and coaching.
When I attended a weekend workshop to learn mosaic art - that was it, I fell in love. I love the vibrancy of the glass, the imperfect perfection, how it glows.
And I so love seeing how I can transform one of my photographs into a whole new aesthetic through bits of colored glass.
I get fan crushes on nature, especially trees. Through my mosaics I get to share with you the deliciousness of nature in a very unique way and give you a chance to bring it into your space.
My process begins with a photograph I’ve taken, often featuring one of those magnificent trees and I take off from there.
People often ask me how long a piece takes to complete. The answer - a long time. They also ask me if I get cut. And, yes I do. I keep a supply of band aids nearby.
I have shown my mosaics in San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Ojai, Scottsdale, Santa Cruz and more. Currently, I live and work in Los Angeles.
