Do you break the pieces to make the mosaics?
Each piece is specifically cut by hand with my nippers according to the need in the design. Go to the process page to see this in more detail
How long do the pieces take?
I can just say that they take a long time. From scouting a photo, to creating the design, to executing the design – it’s a long time.
What are they made from?
They are made from glass. The same kind of glass that one would use when making stained glass windows.
What are they mounted on?
They are mounted on wood.
Can they be hung outside?
The piece it’s self if very sturdy. If you wanted it to live outside I would skip the fabric matting.
Can the pieces be shipped?
Yes, they can.
How long have you been making mosaics?
About 6 years. I’ve done all sorts of other kinds of art before I started creating mosaics.
How did you learn to make mosaics?
I just took a weekend workshop in a woman’s garage, learned the technique and was hooked. Since I have an extensive art background I mastered it quickly.
Do you get cut?
Sure, sometimes. I keep a good supply of bandaids nearby.
How are the pieces maintained?
They can be wiped down with a damp cloth.
How long will the piece last?
The mosaic itself should last for generations.
